Word of Mouth Marketing

My neighbor was on her way to the Senior Center for lunch today. Why today? She had heard from another lady that they were serving baked chicken with noodles. Word of mouth had spread throughout the area and the Senior Center sold out all of its lunches.

You can market your business in much the same way. Let people know when you are having a sale or offering a product or service that they may want. Ask people to refer their friends and give them a discount or some other incentive for doing this. Spreading the word can make your business skyrocket if it is done correctly. There are usually some key people that have a larger sphere of influence with your other prospective clients. By staying in regular touch with them you can raise your chances exponentially of getting the word out to others. Remember that

this also works in reverse - if you do something that people do not like they will spread the word about that even more quickly.

Give people a reason to tell others about you. Offer discounts, incentives, two for one offers, and other programs that will make it a no-brainer for those who already like what you have to offer. And do the same yourself; if you like something, tell someone else about it.
