Does the Business World Need Rules?

Do we need rules to tell us how to behave in business? I thought that common courtesy and professionalism were our guides. Apparently there are some who would like to see a Code of Conduct enforced for bloggers. They tell the story over at Write Tech. There are some who would like to censor what is written in the Blogosphere.

I am against censorship. It goes against our Constitution and the freedom we enjoy in the United States. Let's work on common sense and decency and see if we still need to talk about a Code of Conduct. Let your conscience be your guide and we can all continue to work in the free enterprise system that made us want to be entrepreneurs in the first place.

Wesley Autrey and the World of Marketing

Wesley Autrey is at the top of the search engines this morning and will probably remain there for at least the next day or two. Wesley Autrey is the New York man who threw himself on top of another man to save his life in the subway pit. Autrey had to cover the other man, a stranger to him who was having a seizure, with his own body so that the man would not be crushed under the wheels of the train. This courageous act has changed the 50 year old man's life forever. Should he exploit the situation to further his own causes? Certainly, because the world loves an underdog, especially one who has shown his true colors by performing such an act of random unselfishness.
